Hacettepe University, which was founded on July 8, 1967 with the Law No. 892, continues its contributions to social development and universal values in the fields of science, technology and art with 16 Faculties, 15 Institutes, 4 Vocational Schools, 2 Colleges, 1 Conservatory, 98 Research and Application Centers as one of the leading universities in our country today.
Appointed as the 12th Rector of our university, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran has been acting as the Rector since 26.06.2020.

Hacettepe University started to improve its service quality with strategic planning practices within the scope of total quality management studies that it started in the hospitals of our University in 2000. Our university prepared the first Strategic Plan in 2005. In this context, Hacettepe University was the first Turkish university to officially initiate Strategic Plan studies. So far, our university has developed 4 strategic plans since 2005.
Hacettepe University acknowledges that universities should aim to help society achieve its human development and sustainable development goals. Our university contributes to sustainable development goals through research projects, quality education, social responsibility projects, services, actions, and policies. According to THE World University Impact Rankings 2019 list, which measures the success of institutions in achieving their sustainable development goals, Hacettepe University ranked 87th in the world and second among Turkish universities.
In order to reveal the current status of Hacettepe University on gender equality, categories of decision-making mechanisms, university administration staff, number of students, academic and administrative staff, projects, courses and theses regarding gender, student societies, patents and documentation, assignment and mobility have been examined and an action plan has been created in this regard.
